Coleman Archive - Volume 3 - Various artists

This is the third in a series of archive recordings published by the Coleman Heritage Centre. Although most of the musicians included on this CD are no longer with us, their music lives on.

€18.00  €15.00

This CD features recordings from 1929 to 1984 with a strong emphasis on musicians and singers from the south Sligo area.  The CD however, is not confined to just one locality but includes performers from counties Mayo, Leitrim, Clare and Dublin.  All tracks are representative of, or closely associated with the north Connacht music tradition.  Included are rare recordings of some of the less well-known names of traditional music, an unjustified neglect that this CD seeks to redress.  The intention is to bring together a series of recordings of a core group of musicians from a given locality, who, against the odds, kept alive a tradition that today is celebrated not alone in Ireland but worldwide.

The Michael Coleman Heritage Centre Ltd gratefully acknowledge the support of Sligo County Council Community Grant Scheme 2012 with this project.
