Of MOHER’s four musicians, only one, the flautist and whistle player Antoine PIHIER, lived for a time in Dublin and rubbed shoulders with the “real thing” of Irish pub sessions, and he had previously already toured the sessions of pub in the city of Rennes. Guitarist Corentin QUIMBERT, although he did not stay in Ireland, specialized in “dadgad” tuning, inspired by Micheal O’DOMHNAILL and John DOYLE. Konan GORÉ has been playing the violin since the age of five and has hosted numerous festouest-noz and Irish sessions. Finally, Anthony DEBRAY has dabbled in various percussions, from Indian tablas (of which he plays on a few pieces) to Japanese taiko, including the udu and the bendir, but his favorite percussion is the bodhran, and he also likes to tell stories. stories from Ireland, Brittany… and elsewhere. Despite different backgrounds and musical backgrounds, sooner or later everyone encountered Irish music and started playing during these pub sessions. And it was in a Rennes bar, the Cité D’Ys, that the creation of the group MOHER was sealed between the four musicians.
